What to expect at Anthropic

Anthropic's software engineering interviews can include practical tasks involving files, concurrency and existing code. A design discussion may ask you to examine a proposal or write a document, while project and culture interviews explore decisions you have made and how you work with others.

Some routes begin with a progressive online assessment, while others start with coding or design. Confirm the rounds, language and permitted AI tools for your own process.

Preparing for a design review

Do not prepare only a whiteboard architecture pitch. Candidates have been asked to inspect an existing inference design, identify weaknesses and improve it. Others wrote a design in a shared document.

For inference questions, clarify whether a latency target means time to first token or completion, whether batch size is fixed, and what the stated processing-time assumption represents.
